Amid these overwhelming challenges, there is also hope. At Youth Detention Centres, we’ve witnessed something truly inspiring: more and more young people are choosing to engage with our programs.

Despite the pain and hardship they’ve endured, these young individuals are stepping forward to embrace a better path. Many of them are not only attending our workshops but are also seeking out one-on-one support from our Lived Experience Buddies. This is where the magic happens. These powerful connections are transforming lives, giving young people a second chance at life and helping them rebuild a future they thought was beyond their reach.

I am deeply grateful to all of our presenters and buddies, whose tireless commitment and passion have been pivotal in making this progress possible. They have been a guiding light for these young people, offering both compassion and strength, showing them that recovery is not just a dream but a real possibility. Without their unwavering support, we would not be seeing the positive outcomes we’re experiencing today.
